With 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours just around the corner, Toyota has kicked its promotional efforts for the TS030 hybrid racer into high gear. They recently told us a bit about the car’s preparation for the big race, and now they released a full two and half minutes of its amazing engine sound. The TS030 features a hybrid system, and that’s the reason it sounds like a spaceship or something. The car starts with the electric motors running, then as it’s exiting the pit the all-new V8 3.4 litre normally-aspirated petrol engine kicks in.
Toyota will field two Ts030 at this year’s Le Mans, with the drivers lineup including Alex Wurz (Austria), Nicolas Lapierre (France) Kazuki Nakajima (Japan), Stéphane Sarrazin (France), Anthony Davidson (Great Britain) and Sébastien Buemi (Switzerland). They do have high hopes, and one big problem – Audi is coming with a hybrid too!
