Ford is planning to produce a Fiesta RS instead of the Focus RS. Why? because of the Fiesta’s sporty image created by Ken Block and its participation in World Rally. However it would also be more economically viable for Ford to produce a Fiesta RS than the serious Focus RS.
This would make the Fiesta the fastest car in its class, outpacing the Clio RS. Expected power outputs are around 220BHP or 130 KW’s.
It would also be front wheel drive so the question of the Fiesta chassis capability has to be brought up.
Ford will want to keep hot hatch lovers happy but they will also want to produce high performance cars with the expectation of good returns (financially) which means less cost to manufacture and more of an asking price.
