Just days ago, HTC outed the humble-but-attractive Desire C, one of their
first truly low-end devices revealed since CEO Peter Chou said the days of
pumping out handset after handset were over. The company has certainly turned
back the dial slightly on launches so far in 2012 — but we’ve already seen the
One X, One S (pictured above), and One V and the new Droid Incredible 4G LTE in
addition to the Desire. Now another new HTC set has leaked: the Ville C.
According to its spec sheet, the Ville C is going to stick to a dual-core
chip instead of donning a quad-core like the One X. It’ll be clocked at 1.2GHz
and teamed up with 1GB of RAM, which should make Android 4.0 and version 4.5 of
HTC’s Sense UI quite snappy. Visuals on the Ville C will be pumped through a
4.3-inch qHD AMOLED display. On the back of the phone you’ll find an autofocus 8
megapixel camera with a back-illuminated sensor, LED flash, and HTC’s ImageSense
chip. A VGA front-facing cam will handle self-shots, sneaky over-the-shoulder
pics, and video calls.
HTC has packed 16GB of internal storage into the Ville and power is being
supplied by a 1650mAh battery. All this makes the phone sound like a mid-range
affair, and a bit like a cut-price One S. The Ville C is also listed as being
“ultra slim,” though no specific dimensions were given.
A few key details were left off the leaked spec sheet, including whether or
not that 16GB will be expandable via microSD and what kind of radios the Ville C
is packing. By the time we actually get a glimpse of the phone, we’ll probably
be able to fill in those blanks.
