Sauber Reveals Cutaway F1 Race Car

Sauber F1 is probably bored of not winning anything, because they gave up developing new racing technologies and spend two years cutting an F1 car in half, just so they can show you its bits and pieces. Make no mistake, they’ve done an awesome job, and the cutaway car is very cool, but what is exactly the point of this? Well, those interested in mechanics and the design of an F1 car will probably appreciate the little details that goes into making an F1 car. But whatever those details are, they’re not making a race-winning car in this case.

In this video, Chief Designer Matt Morris quite literally gets underneath the skin of the F1 car, pointing out where and how the individual components are located within the chassis. Everything is packed in pretty tightly. Sergio PĂ©rez is also on hand to demonstrate the driver’s seating position.

You know what would be really cool? If they could drive the cutaway car. That would be real comedy!
