There's a new lens on the way for Pentax K-mount ILC cameras - the smc DA
50mm f/1.8. While aimed at their ILC cameras, like the K-01, the new lens is
also compatible with Pentax K-series dSLRs. As the name implies, it's an f/1.8
lens fixed at 50mm, which makes it an ideal setup for portraits and all-around
general photography.
"The lens measures just 1.5 inches long and weighs only 4.3 ounces," says
sales and marketing manager John Carlson, "making it small enough and light
enough to accompany photographers on all kinds of outings."
The new Pentax lens is coated with the proprietary Super Protect coating to
help repel dust, water, grease and other things that you just don't want on your
lens.
Like the K-30 dSLR that was just announced, the smc DA 50mm f/1.8
medium-telephoto lens will be available sometime in July. The suggested retail
price is to be set at just $249 USD.
